April 8, 2014 – The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit formally issued its certified judgment in the federal Garcia case.

March 17, 2014 – The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit issued a Judgment and an Opinion in the federal Garcia case. The Court affirmed the April 5, 2013, order of the District Court which granted the defendants’ motion to dismiss.

December 23, 2013 – The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit has directed counsel that the federal Garcia case will be submitted on the briefs on January 16, with no oral argument scheduled.

December 16, 2013 – The plaintiffs / appellants in the federal Garcia case submitted a letter to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania also submitted a letter to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

December 9, 2013 – The U.S. Court of Appeals directed counsel to submit brief letter memoranda.

September 26, 2013 – Judge Greenaway granted Senator Pileggi and Senator Costa’s motion to proceed as amici in support of appellee.

January 15, 2013 – Judge Surrick issued an order in the federal case of Garcia et al v. 2011 LRC et al, directing plaintiffs to submit supplemental information by January 25 and defendants to submit responses by February 8.

January 11, 2013 – Oral arguments in the federal case of Garcia et al v. 2011 Legislative Reapportionment Commission et al were held. Judge Surrick ordered supplemental briefs to be filed within 14 days.

November 14, 2012 – Oral arguments in the federal case of Garcia et al v. 2011 Legislative Reapportionment Commission et al have been rescheduled for Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at 11:00 a.m.

October 31, 2012 – Oral arguments in the federal case of Garcia et al v. 2011 Legislative Reapportionment Commission et al will be rescheduled. They will not take place tomorrow.

February 3, 2012 – The Supreme Court has issued a majority opinion in the case regarding General Assembly redistricting. Separate opinions were issued by Justice Eakin, Justice Orie Melvin, and Justice Saylor.

Senator Dominic Pileggi, Representative Mike Turzai, and Louis B. Kupperman filed a complaint in federal court. December 22, 2011 – Governor Corbett signed Senate Bill 1249 (Congressional redistricting). It is now Act 131 of 2011.
