Senators Erickson, Pileggi and Radio Communications Service To Announce Local Scholarship Opportunity

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Senators Edwin "Ted" Erickson (R-26) and Dominic Pileggi (R-9) will join local business leaders at The Walden School in Media, Pennsylvania on Thursday, April 20, 2006, to announce the Hand to Hand: Adopt a Scholar Program.

The Hand to Hand: Adopt a Scholar Program provides full tuition for a student from the City of Chester to attend the private Walden School.  The Walden School, founded in 1967, educates students in grades one through eight in an environment that blends traditional and Montessori principles.

Senator Erickson commended Radio Communications Service President Dale Petrovitch, stating, "Mr. Petrovitch deserves our recognition and thanks for his role in bringing the Hand to Hand: Adopt a Scholar Program into existence.  Without his determination, Adopt a Scholar students might not be able to benefit from an education at The Walden School."

"This scholarship program provides an exceptional opportunity for eager, hardworking students to earn an education in an academically-challenging environment," continued Senator Pileggi.  "Businesses benefit as well, given that financial contributions to the scholarship program are tax-deductible.  It's a win-win situation for children, parents, and local businesses."

The announcement of the Hand to Hand: Adopt a Scholar Program will be made at 10:00 a.m. at The Walden School.  School officials will be on hand to answer questions, and parents who are interested in the program are encouraged to attend.  Local media are also welcome.

For more information, contact Senator Pileggi's Harrisburg office at (888) 984-3478 or rbahn@pasen.gov.  For directions to the event, contact The Walden School at (610) 892-8000.
