Borough of Oxford Names Senator Pileggi
"Outstanding Citizen"
The Borough of
Oxford recently presented the Outstanding Citizen Award to Senate Majority
Leader Dominic Pileggi (R-9).
"We would truly be lost without
his dedication and support," said Oxford Borough Council President Randy Teel.
"Senator Pileggi has supported the borough on grants for our police department
and for Oxford Mainstreet, Inc."
The award was
presented to Senator Pileggi during Oxford's 175th Anniversary celebration. The
plaque presented to Senator Pileggi says, "Through his support of the Borough
and Oxford Mainstreet, Inc., he has made our Borough a better place to live,
work and grow."
"It is an honor
to receive this award," said Senator Pileggi. "A lot of exciting things are
happening in Oxford, and it is a privilege to represent the residents of this
fine community in the state Senate."
Oxford Borough is
located in southern Chester County. The borough was created in 1833, and the
first borough council was elected five years later. In the mid 1800s, a number
of beautiful Carpenter Gothic, Queen Anne and Victorian homes were built in
Oxford, some of which are still in existence today.
