FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Senators Pileggi, Mellow Announce RSS Feeds, Providing Easier Access to Senate ActivitySenate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi (R-9) and Senate Democratic Leader Robert Mellow (D-22) today announced the creation of seven new RSS feeds to give the public easier access to Senate activity. "Over the past two years, the Senate has made dramatic improvements in terms of public access and making information easily available online," said Senator Pileggi. "And it has been a bipartisan process. This is another step forward." "We now post Senate roll calls and committee votes online, the full text of Senate debates is easily available, and Senate sessions can be viewed live on the Internet," said Senator Mellow. "Adding these RSS feeds is a logical extension." RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds allow web users to access news and information from their favorite websites in one place, called a "feed reader" or "news aggregator." RSS feeds also can be viewed on XML-compatible devices such as some cell phones, pagers, or PDAs. Separate RSS feeds are available for the Senate calendar, the Senate executive nominations calendar, the Senate committee meeting schedule, amendments offered on the Senate floor, roll call votes from the Senate floor, the Senate Journals (which include a full transcript of Senate floor activity), and the daily Senate Session Notes. More information about RSS feeds available from the Senate of Pennsylvania can be found at www.pasen.gov/rss.
