FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Senator Pileggi: Help is Available to Complete Property Tax and Rent Rebate ApplicationsSenate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi (R-9) announced today that applications for this year’s Property Tax and Rent Rebate Program are now available in his Glen Mills, Chester and West Grove district offices. The Pennsylvania Property Tax and Rent Rebate program provides up to $650 in property tax relief or rent assistance to eligible Pennsylvanians. Senator Pileggi encouraged eligible constituents to contact any of these district offices to schedule an appointment to have the application completed. "In today’s economic climate, the Property Tax and Rent Rebate program is especially valuable," said Senator Pileggi. "It provides assistance to our most vulnerable residents, yet many people are unaware that they qualify. I encourage any of my constituents with questions about the program – or those who may need help completing the application – to call or visit one of my district offices." Residents eligible for the Property Tax and Rent Rebate Program include those 65 or older, widows and widowers 50 or older, and those 18 or older who are disabled. Annual household income may not exceed $35,000, although only half of any Social Security income and railroad retirement benefits are counted in that calculation. The legislature expanded the program in 2006 to allow more residents to qualify and to increase rebate amounts. Applications for the Property Tax and Rent Rebate Program are due June 30, 2010. Rebate checks will be mailed beginning July 1. Senator Pileggi has three district offices to assist constituents:
