FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Senator Pileggi: State Tax Amnesty Available NowA tax amnesty period for Pennsylvania taxpayers delinquent on state taxes will take place now until June 18, Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi (R-9) announced today. During this time, 100 percent of penalties and half of the interest will be waived for individuals and businesses who pay delinquent state taxes. "This is a unique opportunity for taxpayers who have fallen behind," said Senator Pileggi. "At the same time, it will help to raise much-needed revenue for the state as we now anticipate ending the current fiscal year with a deficit approaching $1 billion." Anyone with a Pennsylvania tax delinquency as of June 30, 2009, is generally eligible to participate in the tax amnesty program. Delinquencies include non-filed tax returns or reports, as well as unpaid taxes or under-reported tax liabilities, whether known or unknown to the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.
