February 22, 2012 - The Legislative Reapportionment Commission met today (agenda, video). The LRC's next meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at 1 p.m.

February 8, 2012 - Judge R. Barclay Surrick of the United States District Court issued an order and an opinion.

Senator Dominic Pileggi, Representative Mike Turzai, and Louis B. Kupperman filed an Opposition to Motion to Intervene in federal court.

February 7, 2012 - Senator Dominic Pileggi, Representative Mike Turzai, and Louis B. Kupperman filed a Reply in Further Support of Plaintiffs' Motion for Temporary Restraining Order in federal court.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court extended Judge Stephen J. McEwen Jr.'s term as chair of the Legislative Reapportionment Commission.

February 6, 2012 - The following documents have been filed in the federal court case related to General Assembly redistricting:

February 3, 2012 - The Supreme Court has issued a majority opinion in the case regarding General Assembly redistricting. Separate opinions were issued by Justice Eakin, Justice Orie Melvin, and Justice Saylor.

Senator Dominic Pileggi, Representative Mike Turzai, and Louis B. Kupperman filed a complaint in federal court.   (Related: Motion for Temporary Restraining Order, Memorandum of Law in Support of Motion for Temporary Restraining Order, Temporary Restraining Order Document.) A hearing has been scheduled for Monday, February 6, at 10 a.m.

February 2, 2012 - Joe Garcia, Fernando Quiles and Dalia Rivera Matias have filed a complaint in federal court.

January 30, 2012 - Speaker of the House Sam Smith has filed a civil complaint in federal court.

January 25, 2012 - The Supreme Court has remanded the General Assembly redistricting plan to the Legislative Reapportionment Commission. A dissent was also filed.

The Supreme Court has posted the argument list for the oral arguments re: General Assembly redistricting, which are scheduled for January 23.

January 11, 2012 - Today was the deadline for filing appeals of the Legislative Reapportionment Commission's final plan for General Assembly redistricting. The following 11 appeals have been filed with the Supreme Court:

The Supreme Court has issued this order related to all petitions regarding General Assembly redistricting, addressing the timetable for filing of documents and scheduling oral arguments for Monday, January 23, at 9:30 a.m.

December 22, 2011 - Governor Corbett signed Senate Bill 1249 (Congressional redistricting). It is now Act 131 of 2011.

December 20, 2011 - Senate Bill 1249 (Congressional redistricting) was approved by the House. It now awaits Governor Corbett's signature.

December 14, 2011 - Senate Bill 1249 (Congressional redistricting) was approved by the Senate. It now moves to the House for consideration.

December 13, 2011 - Proposed Congressional maps: Statewide, Statewide w/ Municipal Lines, Regional Zooms, Regional Zooms w/ Municipal Lines, Legal Description, Shapefiles. PLEASE NOTE: This information reflects the amendment to Senate Bill 1249 which was adopted by the Senate State Government Committee on December 14, 2011.

December 12, 2011 - The Legislative Reapportionment Commission held a meeting to consider the final plan for legislative redistricting. More information about the Preliminary Plan is available at the Legislative Reapportionment Commission's official website. The public comment period for the Preliminary Plan runs through November 30, 2011. Comments regarding the Preliminary Plan can be submitted using the contact form on the Commission's website.
